This Philips appliance complies with all
standards regarding electromagnetic elds
(EMF). If handled proper ly and according
to the instr uctions in this user manual, the
appliance is safe to use based on scientic
evidence availab le today .
Preparing for use
Inserting the batteries
The appliance operates on two R6 AA
1.5-volt alkaline batteries. Preferably inser t
new Philips alkaline batteries to get optimal
shaving perf ormance .
Make sur e that your hands are dry when
you insert the batteries.
1 Remove the lid of the battery
compartment (Fig. 3)
2 Place two batteries in the battery
compartment (Fig. 4).
Note: Mak e sure the + and - indications on
the batteries matc h the indications in the
batter y compar tment.
Note: The shaver does not work if the
batteries have been placed incorrectly.
3 Put the lid of the batter y
compartment back onto the appliance.
First place the top part of the lid (1)
and then press do wn the bottom part
until you hear a click (2) (Fig. 5).
Ho w to av oid damage due to
battery leakage
- Do not expose the appliance to
temperatures higher than 35°C .
- Remov e the batteries if you are not
going to use the appliance for a month
or more.
- Do not leav e empty batteries in the
appliance.
Sha ving time
T wo new Philips alkaline batteries offer a
shaving time of 60 min utes.
Using the appliance
1 Remove the pr otection cap.
2 Press the on/off slide to unlock it
and push it upwards to switch on the
sha ver (Fig. 6).
The on/off slide has an integrated switch
lock to prevent accidental switching on of
the shav er .

Caution
- Use and store the appliance at a
temperature between 5°C and 35°C .
- Remov e the batteries from the
appliance if you are not going to use it
for a month or more.
- Use Philips batteries to achieve optimal
shaving perf ormance .
- Only use the cleaning brush supplied.
- Make sure the cleaning brush remains
clean.
3 Move the sha ving heads over y our
skin. Make both straight and cir cular
movements (Fig. 7).
Note: Shave on a dr y face only. Do not use the
shaver in combination with gel, foam or water .
Note: Y our skin may need 2 or 3 weeks to get
accustomed to the Philips shaving system.
4 Push the on/off slide downwards to
switch off the sha ver .
5 Clean the sha ver after ev ery
sha ve, see chapter ‘Cleaning and
maintenance’.
6 Put the protection cap on the sha ver
after use to pre vent damage and to
a void dirt accumulation in the sha ving
heads (Fig. 8).
Cleaning and maintenance
Nev er use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning
agents or aggressiv e liquids such as petrol
or acetone to clean the appliance.
Clean the shav er after ever y shave to
guarantee better shaving performance .
For the best cleaning result, we advise y ou
to use Philips Cleaning Spray (HQ110).
Ask your Philips dealer for inf ormation.
Note: Philips Shaving Head Cleaning Spray
(HQ110) may not be available in all countries .

After ev er y shav e: shaving unit
and hair chamber
1 Switch off the sha ver .
2 Clean the top of the appliance with
the cleaning brush supplied (Fig. 9).
3 Press the r elease button (1) and pull
the sha ving unit a straight up off the
sha ver (2) (Fig. 10).
4 Clean the inside of the sha ving unit
with the cleaning brush (Fig. 11).
5 Clean the hair chamber with the
cleaning brush (Fig. 12).
6 Put the shaving unit back onto the
sha ver (Fig. 13).
